Description :

Essaouira, formerly “Mogador” or “Tassurt” in reference to the fortress that surrounds the city, is a beautiful port city of Morocco. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a fortified town from the 18th century, it is located on the Atlantic coast and is one of the most famous anchorages in Morocco. Portuguese influence is found everywhere, as for example with Castelo Real, castle built by the King of Portugal in 1505 AD.

In the 18th century, the Sultan Mohamed III built the current city of Essaouira, so that this port serves as an exchange with the European nations, being perfectly located near Marrakech and Agadir for trade with southern Morocco.

We will enjoy plenty of historical sites and magnificent places in a magical city, such as the ancient Jewish quarter, the ramparts, the port, the citadel, or the medina and its souks, which offer a multitude of silver jewels, Spices, colored fabrics, and carved wooden objects. We will have the opportunity to discover the culture of Gnaoua with its dances and its enchanting music, which has its own festival every year, the “Gnaoua Festival and Music of the World”! For lunch, we shall enjoy the freshly caught seafood in front of the ocean.

On the way back to Marrakech, we will pass through a forest of Argan trees, where we can take pictures of goats climbing trees to eat the nuts! We will then have the opportunity to visit the cooperatives of women who make the oil of Argan in traditional way. Our guide-driver will then take us back to Marrakech and drop us off at our accommodation at 17:30
